Joel Jean
Building the next generation of US solar manufacturing.
Background
Joel is the CEO and co-founder of Swift Solar, a US manufacturer pioneering high-efficiency perovskite tandem solar technology. Swift's perovskite-silicon tandems are designed to break through the efficiency limits of conventional silicon and redefine the performance ceiling of solar energy. Swift's mission: unlock the full potential of solar energy.
Taiwanese-American, born and raised in Ohio. Stanford undergrad → MIT EECS PhD. Before Swift, Joel was Executive Director of the Tata-MIT GridEdge Solar research program and co-authored the MIT Future of Solar Energy study. Forbes 30 Under 30 in Energy.
In March 2026 Swift acquired Meyer Burger's HJT manufacturing assets and IP — combining American perovskite leadership with German silicon expertise to scale gigawatt-scale US solar manufacturing.

Sundog is a small Claude API agent that runs on a schedule. It checks Joel's writing and talk feeds, adds new entries here, and bumps the timestamp you see above. The point isn't novelty — it's that this site stays alive without manual upkeep, and the freshness indicator above is real, not theater.
Last attempt: Apr 26, 2026. Last success: Apr 26, 2026. This build: Apr 27, 2026.
Initial seed — Sundog hasn't run autonomously yet.
